AFM 2009: A Revenge Streak From Ireland

Continuing in our AFM 2009 coverage, two films are set to debut in the US from Ireland, Brendan Muldowney’s Savage, and Conor McMahon’s The Disturbed. Both include more bloody revenge than we may be prepared for.
Savage
Finding himself the victim of an attack on the wrong side of the tracks of a crime-ridden city, Paul Graynor, (Darren Healy, Once, Layercake) a press photographer who works exploiting the tabloid news, finds himself the focus of it. He tries to come to terms with his attack, though the scars – both psychological and physical — prove impossible to heal.
Paul tries to reach out to friends and support groups but finds that he is only a shell of the man he once was and his life begins to fall apart, leaving him to spiral into madness. Finally he can focus on only one thing, finding the criminal who turned his life into this horrid mess and so begins his journey to the dark side of his soul where he finds only his savage instincts.
Unable to come to terms and tormented by fear, Paul changes from a helpless victim to an aggressor obsessed with revenge.
The Disturbed
Clyde and Jed are two typical best buddies. They hang out, talk movies, pig out on junk food and then entertain their other common hobby; terrorizing and killing young girls on camera. Their latest victim, Sarah, is totally unaware of what exactly is going on when the two men take her from the trunk of their car and drag her to their bachelor pad.
The murderers plan out every detail of the film in front of Sarah, terrifying her and leaving her with only one goal: escape.
In her darkest hour, with no chance of survival at hand, a glimmer of hope arrives in the form of a spirit who has something much more wicked planned for these twisted friends.
