DVD Releases: November 3rd

Out of today’s slew of DVD releases, the most anticipated is probably Will Ferrell: You’re Welcome America. A Final Night with George W. Bush.
After waiting the inexorably long time for HBO to release the DVD, understandable I suppose because they want people to buy subscriptions to see their content, we finally get the best of Will Ferrell’s SNL impression in the comfort of our own homes. Some would make the claim that Ferrell is on a downward spiral but, aside from the negative reviews for Land of the Lost, these people really don’t have much proof and his down and dirty show as the infamous President Bush only proves the contrary. With no network censors to ruin the act, Ferrell delivers wonderful joke after joke that will make you a fan again, or make you love him even more if you never stopped believing in him.
In the feature movie realm we have some less exciting releases. G.I. Joe, the movie that everyone claimed to hate yet enough people went to see for them to justify making a sequel, will be hitting the shelves today. I don’t have much to say other than that. You’ve seen the trailers. If you live on this planet you know what the movie is about. So yeah, if you liked it you can buy it on DVD now.
The Taking of Pelham 123 also comes out of DVD today. I like this because maybe it means I will actually see it now. If you recall, the movie was promoted like mad – almost as if someone was trying to prove that it is possible to over promote something – but then, when it hit theaters, the buzz went away and the movie was soon forgotten. If you recall, it was that movie where Denzel Washington played an innocent civilian who went up against a terrorist played by John Travolta trying to be a badass. And there was a train involved. Yeah, that one.
Other new releases include Food, Inc. and I Love You, Beth Cooper… all available at your local DVD outlet or, of course, the on the internet.
