Pride and Prejudice and Zombies Miniseries?

That’s right… Quirk Books’ twist on Jane Austen, Pride and Prejudice and Zombies, is being turned into a… well, here, read it for yourself:

Well, I’m very okay with this. The book is enjoyable, but it is pretty much Jane Austen’s novel word-for-word, with passages about zombies, ninjas, and martial arts training interspersed throughout. It’s a monstrously fun read (no pun intended), but it’s hardly an original work on its own… what it’s perfect for is, well, this exactly. P&P&Z is basically a blueprint for one helluva miniseries, and given the subject matter at hand, this might be one of those (very) rare times where the movie adaptation works even better than the book itself.

If you’re looking forward to seeing Mr. Darcy and Miss Elizabeth decapitating some zombies in glorious, full-color TV – or even if you’re not – let us know in the comments section!

UPDATE 12/3: Sadly, this turns out to be nothing more than a tantalizing rumor. Says author Seth Grahame-Smith, “The plan has always been to do a feature film.” No word on whether any wheels are turning to make a movie happen, but a TV miniseries this book will definitely not be.
